Advanced Carbon Launched the First Safe Drinking Water Project in Rwanda
According to the WHO report, 2.2 billion people around the world still suffer from lacking of safely managed drinking water services. Every year, 297 000 children under 5 years die due to diarrhea linked to inadequate clean water. This situation is even worse in least developed countries (herein after referred as LDCs) due to deficiency in infrastructures and public utilities. Boiling water with wood also results in significant greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions through the use of non-renewable biomass, causing deforestation and threatening biodiversity.
After careful observation of the situation in schools of Rwanda where children drink untreated water (including rain water, piped water and water from springs) which is evidently detrimental to their health, we decided to launch our first safe drinking water project in Rwanda.
On 23rd Dec. 2019, we visited Education Department of Muhanga District Office in Southern Province, Rwanda and signed a donation MoU with them on Janurary, 2020.

On 20th Jan. 2020, Advanced Carbon installed the first chemical disinfection device in G.S. Ruyenzi of Southern Province, Rwanda. Our target is to cover over 1,000 schools and provide safe drinking water to them.
Mr. Jin HAN installed the first chemical disinfection device in G.S. Ruyenzi with local partner on 20th Jan. 2020.
Students drank rain water directly from the water tank before the chemical disinfection device was installed.
